Hitters Struggle in 2nd Loss

Texarkana, Texas (May 28, 2017)-The first matchup between the Twins and Bombers did not go to plan for Trey Porras and company as they could not get the bats goingon the road, losing 4-2 to the newest TCL franchise.

Cole Pletka made his first appearance of the summer and was roughed around by the top 6 of the Twins’ lineup. Giving up 2 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings to hand over a 4-1 Twins lead heading into the 4th.

Despite the early deficit, the Bombers had their opportunities in the 6th inning, where they had the bases loaded and one out after already scoring a run and before Allonte Wingate was caught in a rundown. And also in the 7th inning when they had runners on the corners with no one out, when Troy Anderson was gunned down at the plate after Chandler Morris fly out to left field.

The Bombers only left three runners on base, but they weren’t able to convert on that duo of opportunities to give their bullpen a fighting chance.

But the bullpen did shine for a second straight game behind the a of relievers. Reid Morgan, Clayton Hill, and Chris Cooper. Those three combined for 5 innings of work, with 0 hits allowed, 0 runs, 7 strikeouts, and only 1 walk.

The two will meet again tomorrow night to conclude the series and the Bombers road-trip before returning home to the Bryan/College Station area. First pitch is slated for 7:30pm and the pre-game and broadcast can be found on Willy 1550 at 7:15pm.
