Bombers Drop Tough One on Kids Free Saturday

Bryan-College Station, TX (July 31, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers lost a crucial game against the East Texas Pump Jacks on Kids Free Saturday presented by Chicken Express, 3-1. The loss came despite another stellar performance by Brannon Easterling and Wes Patterson’s third home run of the season.

The Bombers struck first in the bottom of the forth when Patterson drove one over the fence with two outs to push the Bombers ahead 1-0. In the sixth the Pump Jacks responded, plating one. Later in the inning the Pump Jacks had runners on the corners with no outs, but a pop fly to Josh McElroy turned into a double play as McElroy gunned down the runner from third at the plate holding the score at 1-1.

The Bombers’ starter Brannon Easterling kept the home team in the game with eight strong innings of work, allowing just one run. The Pump Jacks loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth and scored on a grounder through the middle and then again as the throw from home sailed over the second baseman’s head giving the visitors a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth the Bombers started with a strikeout, before Casey Dykes reached base with a double. The Bombers were unable to advance Dykes though, dropping the game 3-1 to the Pump Jacks. The pitching for the visitors kept the Bombers off balance all night as the Bombers only managed one run on the big fly by Patterson.

The Bombers return to action tomorrow night for the first of a two game set against the Victoria Generals on Bingo Sunday presented by Brazos Bingo as just seven games remain in the 2010 regular season.
