Bryan-College Station, TX (July 31, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers came up on the short end of a 12-0 loss at the hands of their bitter rivals, the Victoria Generals, on Charity Night. Over 1400 fans were on hand as the Bombers celebrated the hard work that these organizations do for the community while fans participated in Sunday Bingo presented by Brazos Bingo.
On hand to be honored by the Bombers was Brazos Valley Food Bank, BV CASA, Family Promise, Habitat for Humanity, MADD, Project Unity, Scotties House, SOS Ministries, Still Creek Boys Rance, Twin City Mission, United Way, and Voices for Children. The Bombers would like to thank these groups, as well as tonight’s sponsors American Classifeds, Anco Insurance, Comfort Keepers, Fuddruckers, MaidPro, Prosperity Bank, Sam’s Club, Spoons, Yogurt, H. E. B., and Brazos Valley Bank for making Sunday a night to be remembered.
The Generals got the scoring started early, plating one in the first and two in the second to earn a 3-0 lead. From there the Generals never looked back, adding nine more runs, five of them unearned, two in the fifth, one in the sixth, two in the seventh, and four in the eighth inning to extend their lead to 12-0 with half of those runs unearned. Generals’ starter Joseph Dvorsky had the Bombers off balance all night long, scattering four hits over his six innings of work.
The Bombers never got things going on the evening, only managing the four base hits throughout the game, all of them singles. The home team also committed four errors on their way to their biggest loss this season. The Bombers got runners to third base in the fourth and fifth, but both times the base runner was unable to score, keeping the Bombers off the scoreboard.
The Bombers return to action tomorrow night for the last game of a two game set against the Victoria Generals on Feast Monday with $0.50 pop corn, peanuts, and hot dogs all night. Just four home games remain, so get out to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark and cheer on your Bombers!
