On this cloudy Tuesday night, the Bombers defeated the Acadiana Cane Cutters on their home turf in Louisiana. The first six innings were a stalemate between the teams, as pitchers fought from the mound allowing no runs to come in.
However, at the top of the seventh, designated hitter Hunter Melton hit a home run scoring the first point of the game for the Bombers. The Bombers were able to pull together and pick up the pace in the ninth inning starting off with short stop Horacio Correa who hit a single to advance to first. Correa went on to score, furthering the Bomber’s lead to two. Both Melton and right fielder Blake Kopetsky hit singles, once again allowing Melton to score. Pitcher Shay Maltese was able to end the game on a strike to clutch the win for the Bombers. The Bombers defeated the Cutters with a final score of 3-0.
Pitcher Jason Gareri owned the mound tonight five strikeouts, five hits and two walks. Shay Maltese took over the mound for the Bombers in the eighth inning and ended the game with two strikeouts, no hits, and one walk.
