The Bombers owned the Friday night lights in Bryan as they earned redemption against the Texas Marshals in a 2-1 victory.
After a pitching duel in the first three innings, the Marshals earned the first run of the game in the top of the fourth but were unable to catch their stride. In the bottom of the fifth left fielder Cody Lovejoy reached first with a single, then was able to steal his way around to third before coming home on a wild pitch. The game didn’t remain tied for long, as the Bombers were able to pull ahead the very next inning.
In the bottom of the sixth first baseman G.R. Hinsley whacked a single to reach first then was brought home on a sacrifice fly by right fielder Patrick McLendon to earn the final score of 2-1. Pitcher Zac Curtis, who earned Player of the Game, held down the mound for Brazos Valley the whole night, earning eight strikeouts and only two hits.
The Bombers return to American Momentum Bank ballpark next Thursday to take on the Texas Marshals again at 7:05pm.
