With an undefeated record on the road and a top spot in the Texas Collegiate League standings, the Brazos Valley Bombers are geared up and ready to show their home crowd what winning is all about.

Over the past week the Bombers have successfully defeated the Acadiana Cane Cutters with scores of 17-12 and 4-0, and the Texas Marshals with scores of 6-0 and 4-2. The undefeated streak, a best opening record in franchise history, included 22 straight scoreless innings by the Bombers defense. In addition to the outstanding quality of the team as a whole, a few individuals have stepped into the spotlight. Bombers pitcher Michael Walker, a freshman lefty from Trinity University, has earned the title of Texas Collegiate League Pitcher of the Week. Walker pitched a full-game shutout against the Cane Cutters on Friday night, including six strikeouts and only two walks. Some familiar local faces will also be on the Bombers’ roster this season as Aggies Hunter Melton, Parker Ray, Jason Freeman, and Rex Hill will all be in the Brazos Valley for the 2013 season.

Opening day at American Momentum Bank Ballpark in Bryan is Tuesday as the Bombers take on the Woodland Strykers at 7:05pm. Brad Vachon, University of Texas at Arlington’s starting pitcher this past Friday night, will be on the mound for the Bombers to welcome the home crowd back to American Momentum Bank Ballpark. “We’re all really excited to return to the Brazos Valley this week;” said Head Coach Curt Dixon, “there’s nothing quite like feeling the love from your home crowd.” 

This week’s promotions include fifty cent hot dogs on Tuesday, $1 margaritas on Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday ($1 sodas and beer) brought to you by Western Beverages, and FRIDAY FIREWORKS!
