Record Breaking Coaching Staff Returns To Brazos Valley

Baseball fans, sports enthusiasts, and residents of the Brazos Valley should be excited to hear that the record breaking coaching staff from last season will be returning to the Bombers, but this time they're hungry for more.

The Bombers were moments away from attending the championship game in the 2012 Season where they were just barely edged out by the Victoria Generals in the 11th inning.

“It was an incredible game of baseball,” said Uri Geva, CEO of the Bombers. “It was intense and exciting; you couldn't look away. Though it didn't end the way we would have liked, it's something I'll always remember.”

Despite the bittersweet end, the Bombers made their talent known throughout the TCL. Their 39-21 record landed them on the Perfect Game USA Nation's Top 30 list and not mention was the most winning percentage Brazos Valley had ever seen.

“This team worked as hard as they could and played with everything they had,” said Curt Dixon, head coach of the Bombers. “I couldn't be prouder of this group of guys. Everything they received, the national rankings, the trip to the playoffs, all of it was due to their outstanding team work.”

Not only was the team recognized for their success but individual awards came rolling in. Head coach, Curt Dixon, was named Coach of the Year while two Bombers snagged a spot on the All-TCL Team.

“I'm incredibly honored and stunned really to be named TCL Coach of the Year,” said Dixon. “I owe any success to the amazing coaching staff I had with me and the team I had the pleasure to coach. In regards to Smith and Wharton making the [All-TCL] team, that wasn't a surprise at all. They are both amazing players and whole-heartedly deserved that honor.”

Returning alongside Dixon are assisstant coaches, Brian Nelson, third base/ hitting coach, Robert Mummey, and special assisstant, Ben Gallego.

“Last year was such an amazing season,” said Brian Nelson, assisstant coach. “Its a honor to come back and coach these young men and hopefully help lead them to a TCL title. This coaching staff that I'm so fortunate to be a part of truly cares about this team as well as the community that we represent.”

With their lucky seventh season fast approaching, Dixon, Nelson, Mummey, and Gallego have their sights set on bringing home a championship title.

“It can only get better from here,” said Gallego. “We got so close at the end of last season, but so close won't be good enough for 2013. We know what we need to fix and we're working on how to make our team even better than before.”

The Brazos Valley Bombers begin their journey at the end of May with a 30 game schedule that was released earlier this week. Fans can join the action at 7:05pm every home game at American Momentum Bank Ballpark located in Bryan, TX.
