Bombers Win Second In A Row with 4-2 victory over the Strykers

The Bombers finished this two game home stand tonight by hosting The Woodlands Stykers. The Bombers were coming off an 11-6 victory over Acadiana. The Bombers once again put forth a great effort tonight as they beat the Strykers 4-2 in a game in which all the runs were scored before the fourth inning.

Right fielder, Quinton Urban led off the first inning with a single. Urban would move up to second on a passed by the Stykers pitchers as first baseman James Wharton was at the plate. Wharton would then hit a single that would score Urban giving the Bombers a 1-0 lead. The Bombers would score their final three runs in the third inning. With two outs in the inning, Wharton would once again hit a single. Third baseman Brennyn Smith would follow him with a single. Both runners came home to score as shortstop Nick Smelser drilled a pitch over the left field wall giving the Bombers a 4-2 lead.

The Bombers once again got a dominant performance from their starting pitcher. Tarzana, California native, Ryan Santhon started on the mound tonight for the Bombers. Santhon gave up four hits, two runs in seven innings while fanning seven Strykers. Derek Mazzio came in to pitch the eighth and ninth innings. Mazzio earned the save after striking out three Strykers in the two innings of work.

The Bombers defense made great plays in the game. They were also very vital to the success that both Santhon and Mazzio had. The team showed stamina throughout the game and walked away with another home victory tonight.

The Bombers now have a couple of days off with the TCL All Star game on Monday at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. The following day, the Bombers head to Kilgore to take on the East Texas Pump Jacks for one game. The Bombers have this coming Wednesday off before heading back to Victoria for two games against the Generals. They close out the week in McKinney before returning to American Momentum Bank Ballpark on July 15th for two games against the Strykers.
