Bombers Head Back to The Brazos Valley for Two Game Home Stand
 
The Bombers closed out their three games series in two days with a double header today against the Marshals.The Bombers were unable to find the breaks needed as they fell 6-3 in the first game and 5-4 in the second game of the double header they played today.
 
In the first game of the day, the Bombers were able to get on the board until the third inning. Center fielder Chris Florack led the inning off with a walk. He was sacrificed to second on a bunt by shortstop Corey Toups. After left fielder Brandon Wood drew a walk, designated hitter, James Wharton came to the plate and hit a double to center scoring Florack. The Bombers did find the plate as they scored a couple in the fourth inning. Right fielder, Quinton Urban led the inning off with a walk. Second baseman Shea Pierce then came up and hit a single to left field. Toups then came to the plate and and hit and infield single that scored Urban. With the bases loaded, Wharton came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Pierce who was at third.
 
Blake Bagley started on the mound for the Bombers. Bagley pitched 5.1 innings recording two strikeouts in a hard fought effort. Luis Dejesus and Franco Pace came into the the game to finish the last two innings. Pace recorded two strikeouts in the final inning.
 
The Bombers made a couple of nice plays in the field. In the third inning, Brad Porras made a nice one handed catch at first then stepped on the base for an out. Catcher Braden Mattson then made a nice spinning throw to first for an out the following inning. In the bottom of the fifth, Toups bobbled the ball but managed to find Pierce at second who was able to tag out a Marshal runner leaning off the base. Despite the Bombers effort, they fell short in McKinney in game one. 
 
The second game of the day ended closely, however the Bombers dropped another to end their holiday road trip. After stranding runners during the first two innings, the Bombers scored three runs in the third. Second baseman Myles Parma led the inning offwith a single to center field.He was sacrificed to 2nd on a bunt by third baseman Brad Porras.  Quinton Urban then came up and singled a pitch to centerfield. The Bombers then put on a double steal that scored Parma. Urban came home to score on a single to leftfield by designated hitter Kevin Lamb. Lamb then scored on a double by center fielder Jordan Hammerman. The Bombers would get one run in the fifth. After Lamb was hit by a pitch, Hammerman came up and drilled a pitch to the wall in right center that scored Lamb.
 
Montgomery native, Logan Burch started on the mound for the Bombers. Burch recorded a strikeout in a couple of innings pitched. Lefty, Andrew Hohn came in the game in the third inning and pitched two innings while recording a strikeout. Nick Johnson came in the game in the fifth and a solid inning. Nathan Sorenson then came in to pitch the sixth inning and recorded a perfect inning of work.
 
There was a couple of nice plays in the field. In the third, catcher Shea Pierce threw out a runner at second. The other was a throw from center fielder Jordan Hammerman to Shea Pierce that threw a runner out at the plate.
 
The Bombers will hit the road as we head home to the Brazos Valley for two games before the All Star Break. The Bombers will return to American Momentum Bank Ballpark on Friday when they host the Acadiana Cane Cutters with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. The game will be a Family Friday brought to you by the George Bush Presidential Library, and the game will also mark Hollywood Night at the park! The Bombers close out the week by hosting The Woodlands Strykers on Saturday at 7:05.
