Bombers Look to Pick Up Wins Against the Marshals
Bombers Look to Pick Up Wins Against the Marshalls The Bombers opened a two game home stand tonight against the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Bombers were in control early in the game before East Texas made a come back to take the game 6-5. The Bombers had great performances all around. The Bombers will now take on the McKinney Marshalls with four games in four days. Left fielder Brandon Wood started off the second inning with a walk. Wood then took the liberty of stealing second and then third base. With Wood at third, first baseman James Wharton hit a single to leftfield that scored Wood. The Bombers got one run in the second on a solo homerun over the signs in left center by shortstop Nick Smelser. The Bombers would get two runs in the fourth. Third baseman Brennyn Smith hit a double to left center. Smelser then came to the plate and drew a walk. Both runners were moved up the base paths after a sacrifice bunt by second baseman Corey Toups. Smith would come home to score on a RBI double from right fielder Quinton Urban. Smelser then scored on a suicide squeeze by center fielder Chris Florack. Brandon Wood would score the last run for the Bombers in the fifth inning when Smith hit a single. Right hander Ryan Santhon started on the mound for the Bombers. Santhon pitched five innings while recording three strikeouts. Derek Mazzio then came into the game in the sixth inning and provided three solid innings of relief. Luis Dejesus would come in to pitch the ninth recording one strikeout. There was a couple of nice plays made in the field by the Bombers. The first one was when Toups bobbled a ball at second base. After bobbling the ball, Toups saw a Pump Jack heading for the plate and fired the ball to catcher Kevin Lamb who blocked the plate not allowing the run to score. The other happened in the seventh inning when Myles Parma had to chase down a ball that went into the right field corner. After reaching the ball, Parma fired it to Toups who then relayed it to Smith at third to tag out a Pump Jack trying to slide in safely. The Bombers will close out this current home tomorrow at 7:05 against the McKinney Marshalls. The game is a Monday Feast with 50 cent Hot Dogs, Peanuts and Popcorn brought to you by Fedstar Credit Union! The game is also America’s Favorite Pastime night at the ballpark. The Bombers will then travel to McKinney for three games. The game Wednesday will most likely be a double header to make up the previous game in McKinney that was cancelled. The Bomber then play the Marshalls Thursday before returning to American Momentum Bank Ballpark to close out the week against the Acadiana Cane Cutters and The Woodlands Strykers. |
