Bombers Lose Another Heartbreaker at Home
The Brazos Valley Bombers closed out their two game series against the Acadiana Cane Cutters tonight. Another lively crowd watched a great game, however it ended with the Bombers losing their second straight game 3-2 in 11 innings.
The Bombers offense scored early in the game. In the first inning, right fielder Myles Parma, hit a single to centerfield, then left fielder Brandon Wood hit a blooper over the third baseman’s head. Third baseman, Brennyn Smith then came up a drove in Parma with a double. The Bombers would score another run in the second inning. Designated hitter Quinton Urban hit a triple to right field and came to the plate to score on a single to right center by center fielder Jordan Hammerman.
Round Rock native, Brad Vachon started tonight’s game making his Bomber debut. His first Bomber outing was pretty impressive. Vachon pitched seven innings giving up one run while striking out eight Cane Cutters. Derek Mazzio would come in to the game in relief to pitch the eighth and ninth innings. In the ninth inning was when the Cane Cutters would come back to tie the game on a ball that got away from catcher Braden Mattson that allowed a Cane Cutter to come home and score. Nick Johnson, Andrew Hohn and Andrew Godail would pitch the rest of the game for the Bombers. The Cane Cutters would score the winning run in the top of the 11th inning.
