The Bombers fell 6-2 against the East Texas Pump Jacks on Thursday night, despite a strong another strong effort on the mound. The loss results in a series split with the TCL-leading Pump Jacks, and the team will look to get back on track Friday night against the Alexandria Aces.
Starter Drew Olson was sharp toeing the rubber for the Bombers, throwing 7 innings of 2-run baseball. He struck out 5 Pump Jacks on the night, and put the Bombers in a position to win the game. After Olson left the game, the Pump Jacks teed off on the Bombers bullpen, scoring 4 runs off of 7 hits over the next two innings.
The Bombers have been struggling to manufacture runs at the plate recently, leaving 20 runners on base in the last two games, including 13 men stranded in scoring position. Coach Brent Alumbaugh said that the situational hitting is going to be key moving forward as the team looks to clinch a playoff berth.
The team will look to rebound Friday night in their game against the Aces. The Bombers will team up with the George Bush Presidential Library to honor the Red Dress Exhibit, with Red Dress pins and t-shirt giveaways. The team will welcome the famous Reggy the Purple Party Dude to the ballpark for Kids Free Saturday, presented by Chicken Express, as they conclude their home stand.
