The Brazos Valley win streak and road trip ended abruptly Thursday evening with a 23-5 defeat by the Coppell Copperheads. The home team came to play and avenged the 11-3 loss the Bombers dealt to them the night before. The Bomber bats kept it close for a majority of the game until a big Coppell 8th inning was too much for the club to come back from.
Despite the final score, Brazos Valley did have some bright spots at the plate. The team managed a very respectable five runs on eleven hits, which included shortstop Brennyn Smith going 3-4 with a walk and two runs scored and catcher John Cannon going 2-5 at the dish, while accounting for two Bomber RBIs.
The Bombers will now head home and set their sights on returning to their winning ways Friday for their next series with the Alexandria Aces. Tomorrow night's game will be Auction Night at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, where fans will be able to bid on authentic game-worn jerseys from their favorite Bomber players. Saturday evening will be "Bark in the Park" night presented by Lovan Care Animal Clinic, as dog owners are encouraged to bring their pooch to the park free of charge. Also, Saturday will be this season's first Kids Free Saturday brought to you by Chicken Express. Kids will be admitted to the game, enjoy food and tickets to the UPA Kids Zone, for FREE.
