The Bombers are excited to announce the signing of four players, each of whom recently completed their first year of collegiate baseball. This season, Damian Rivera, Kevin Wirth, Herbert Romero, and Ryan Gebhardt will be donning the Bomber blue and gold.
Rivera is a left-handed pitcher from St. Louis University. In 12 appearances this season, he posted a 3.11 ERA and held opponents to a .231 batting average. In high school, he was voted his team's most valuable pitcher in three seasons, and was the team MVP his senior year.
Wirth and Romero are teammates at Scottsdale Community College. Wirth, an infielder, posted a .293 batting average, and got on base at a .323 clip in his 35 games this year. Romero appeared in 54 games this season, primarily as an outfielder, where he hit .389 with 41 runs batted in and scored 39 runs.
Gebhardt just finished his season with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, where he was named Second-Team All-WAC. He hit for a .325 average and got on base in nearly 40% of his plate appearances (.394 OBP). He also scored 20 runs while spending most of his playing time at shortstop.
These four young players add to an already talented roster in what is shaping up to be a very successful season for the Bombers.
