Bombers Celebrate 100,000th Fan

Bryan-College Station, TX (July 21, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers had their five game winning streak snapped by the McKinney Marshals as fireworks filled Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark after the game on Fireworks Friday. During the game the Bombers announced that their 100,000th fan, Caleb Duane, passed through the gates of Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark tonight.

The Bombers 100,000th fan and an attendance average that exceeds 1500 fans per game is just another shining example of the staple that the team has become in the Brazos Valley. With the impact the team has had in just four short years it is easy to see why the Bombers have become the home team of thousands.

The Bombers broke the scoreless tie in the fourth when Josh McElroy brought home Caey Dykes on an RBI single to give the Bombers the 1-0 lead. The home team added another in the fifth on back-to-back two out doubles by Isaac Nuti and Casey Dykes. The visitors struck back though, batting around and scoring six in the top of the sixth and one in the seventh to pull ahead 7-2.

The Bombers clawed back, scoring one in the eighth when Jacob House scored on a wild pitch, but the Marshals responded with two more in the ninth to expand their lead to 9-3. The home team gave their best effort to come from behind yet again, but only scored Ryan Morrow and Cameron Dullnig in the bottom of the last inning and fell short 9-5. Despite the loss the Bombers maintain their hold of first place in the Texas Collegiate League standings with just 14 games remaining in the 2010 regular season.

The Bombers will be in Weimar on Saturday and Victoria Sunday before returning to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark for a Feast Monday in the first game of a two game series against the North Texas Copperheads. The game comes on King of Pop night as the Bombers celebrate the life and legacy of Michael Jackson, so put on your best white glove and your dancing shoes and get out to the ballpark.
