Kilgore, TX (July 9, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers lost a pitchers duel 0-1 Friday night against the East Texas Pump Jacks on a solo home run. The home run was one of just five hits for the Pump Jacks, but was the difference in a close game that was all too expected. The teams have now faced one another three times with all three games decided by one run.
Levi Saenz pitched outstandingly for the Bombers tonight, going seven innings, giving up only four hits. Unfortunately, one of those hits was a solo blast by Texas Collegiate League home run leader Lee Orr. The run proved the be the difference as the Bombers were unable to respond.
The Bombers had men in scoring position on the second, fourth and sixth, but left those runners stranded in each inning. In the ninth the Bombers mounted one last comeback attempt, moving John Cannon and Morgan Mickan on base with two outs, but the next batter lined out right to the shortstop, ending the game.
The Bombers will be back in action against the Pump Jacks again tomorrow night before the team hosts the Pump Jacks on Bingo Sunday. It will be Super Hero night, honoring Brazos Valley Police and Fire officials and hosting 1954 Rookie of the Year Wally Moon. Don’t miss out on the fun as Reggy the Purple Party Dude will be in the stadium for the last time this season.
