Alexandria, LA (June 29, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers won a hard fought game against the Alexandria Aces 4-0 Tuesday night, thanks to some clutch hitting and great pitching. The win moves the Bombers back into a tie for first place in the Texas Collegiate League standings.
The league leading Victoria Generals were supposed to play the North Texas Copperheads as well last night, but the game in Coppell was cancelled due to heavy rainfall in the Dallas area. The Generals had a half-game lead going into Tuesday night, but lost that when the Bombers won and they did not play. The win moves the Bombers to 14-8 on the season while the Generals sit at 13-7.
After Tuesday night the race to clinch the First Half Title and a playoff berth looks to shake down to a three-team race. The Bombers and Victoria Generals now sit squarely atop the TCL standings with the East Texas Pump Jacks just one game back.
The Bombers will face the Aces again Wednesday night before hosting the Generals on Thursday and the Pump Jacks on Saturday, in a game that could be the de facto first half championship game.
