Four years after the Brazos Valley Bombers joined the Texas Collegiate League as an expansion team, the league is still continuing its annual tradition of adding a team during the offseason. The Texas Collegiate League announced today that they have added a sixth team for the 2010 season.
The Victoria Baseball Club, owners of the Victoria Generals, have purchased a second franchise one year after joining the league and plan to announce the location of their newest team shortly. “We are very excited and pleased that the other franchise owners in the TCL have agreed to our proposal for owning another franchise,” said Tracy Young, franchise owner and team president.
The addition of a sixth team makes scheduling easier and the league plans to increase the number of games in a season from 48 to 56.
With two to four more teams potentially joining the league in 2011, the Texas Collegiate League is growing rapidly in size and popularity. Already regarded as the #2 summer collegiate league in the nation behind the famed Cape Cod League, the TCL looks to solidify itself as a premier summer circuit.
