Bombers Kick off 09 Season with Fan Fest

With the 2009 season right around the corner, the Bombers are returning to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark this Sunday for the second annual Fan Fest!

Admission is FREE at Fan Fest, as fans will have the opportunity to come see the 2009 Bombers on the field for the first time this summer. Several live bands will be playing as the gates open at 5 pm, including Ben Morris and the Great American Boxcar Chorus, as well as Stan Crawford.

The festivities will include carnival style games for the children, inflatables, contests, and autograph sessions, as well as the main event- the home run derby. Last year, Eric Udell put on a show for all of those in attendance, slamming five home runs to take top honors. Season ticket holders will also have the opportunity to collect their season tickets at the event.

The Bombers are returning with several new promotions this season in addition to last season’s favorites. In addition to $2 Margaritaville Wednesday, $1 beer Thirsty Thursday, Fireworks Friday and Saturday Giveaways, the Bombers will be adding several new promotional nights for the upcoming season. Monday Feast, which will include $0.50 hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks, premiers this season along with Cashback Tuesday and Slovacek Sunday. Cashback Tuesday will provide fans with the chance to win up to $1000 through a variety of contests and door prizes. In addition to $1 sausages, Slovacek Sunday will also include the opportunity to win a Nintendo Wii.

The Bombers also announced today the signing of three new players to finalize the 2009 roster. Joe Craven, Robby Graham and Wes Schill provide the Bombers with the final touches to a roster that is primed to make a serious run at the Texas Collegiate League title.

Joe Craven provides the Bombers with depth and speed in the outfield. The 5’11” senior from Franklin, Tennessee is known for his defensive skills, as well as his ability to hit into the gaps. In his sophomore season at King College, Craven led the nation in Triples on his way to an All-Conference selection.

A teammate of former Bombers outfielder Tyler Huelsing, Robby Graham provides the Bombers with a solid corner outfielder with plenty of experience. As a freshman, he made 48 starts and hit .240 with 21 RBI. This past spring, he battled injuries and was only able to make 15 starts, but expects to be ready to make an impact this summer. Graham earned four letters at Cordova High School in Tennessee and was a four-time all-district selection. He holds multiple all-time records at Cordova, including 144 hits, 141 runs, 78 RBI, 70 walks, 15 home runs, and 23 doubles.

Wes Schill joins the Bombers with plenty of experience in the College Station area, having played his high school baseball at A&M Consolidated. In his senior season, the freshman infielder from North Texas Community College hit .419 with three home runs and eight stolen bases.

The Bombers are members of the Texas Collegiate League, one of the nation’s premier summer collegiate circuits. Teams like the Bombers bring minor league baseball-style entertainment to communities throughout the country, giving some of the best college players a chance to further their careers in wood bat leagues in front of Major League scouts. The Bombers 48-game season begins on June 5 and runs through August 8, followed by the TCL playoffs and a championship series. Season tickets for the 2009 season are now on sale.
