Long Beach State drops 5th in a row
Long Beach State, a team that was so dominant in the first half of the season, has struggled to find a win on their current road trip. Yesterday they dropped their 5th straight game at the hands of Stanford by a score of 9-3. Dustin Rasco, who has been brilliant all season, allowed three runs in the 6th inning of a game marked by frustration and disappointment. Long Beach State will try to get on the right track today as they continue travel to play at Fresno State.
McNeese State begins busy week
McNeese State begins a stretch where they play five games in the next six days today, as they host Tulane University. Shon Landry, who is batting .361 and leads the team with five homers and 25 RBI, will look to have a big week and add to his impressive totals.
Ole Miss and Memphis game postponed
Bomber fans looking to see a match up of Bomber players Garrett Duff, Tyler Huelsing, and Marcus Barnes will have to wait another day after today’s game was postponed due to inclement weather.
Other Games Today
Casey Whitmer and the University of Texas play host to Rice tonight in what may be a preview of the College World Series. Whitmer will likely get an opportunity in a relief situation as he often has lately.
The University of New Orleans also hosts Nicholls State today at 6:30 pm. Former Bomber Mark McGonigle leads the Privateers with three triples this season and has a .280 batting average. His younger brother, Jim, has pitched well this season and may see some action in relief.
