Bombers Move Up To First In the TCL After Tonight's 5-4 Win

Victoria, TX (June 21, 2023) – The Bombers come out victorious in a very close game in Victoria that was threatened to be cut short by bad weather. Impending bad weather almost had tonight's game result in a tie but luckily it was able to stay away long enough for the bomber’s to win it in the 9th inning. The final score of the game ended up being 5-4 being very close the entire time and coming down to the very last inning. With the win tonight in this tight game the Bombers are now solo number one in the TCL and they continue to have some of the best hitters in the league as well. This was proven tonight by the team’s endurance holding on the entire game as well as showing how the Bombers work together to get things done.

Tonight’s game was a nail biter being very close the entire time and the action started off for the Bombers with a single in the first inning by Cole Modgling. Cole has been very helpful for his team this season, consistently getting on base and having some of the most runs individually so far. Maddox Miesse was tonight’s player of the game getting the Bombers on the board in the best way possible with a two run homer that was an absolute bomb earning a run for himself and one for Simon Larranga in the second inning. This gave the Bombers a 2-0 lead and really set the precedent for how this Brazos Valley team would play tonight.

The remainder of this game was kept very tight with Victoria answering back from the home run by putting the Bombers in a 4-2 deficit at one point but this didn’t pose a threat for this clutch team. Later in the fifth, Simon Larranga continued to log stats this evening with a base hit to the 6 hole allowing Casey Sunseri to score and advancing everyone else to help the Bombers get closer to a victory position. In the sixth inning, the Bombers closed off the deficit with Jordan Medellin and Casey Sunseri logging singles which set up Cole Modgling perfectly for his RBI single that allowed Jordan Medellin to score.

To secure the victory, Hunter Autrey earned a single and advanced to second on a pass ball playing really smart this evening. This ended up being well rewarded when Jordan Medellin collected an infield single to allow Hunter Autrey to score, giving the Bombers the lead needed to win this game. Zach Williams helped out the Bombers greatly in finalizing the score with a no hitter in the bottom of 9th allowing Brazos Valley to take home the win tonight. With this big win the Bombers win streak is kept alive and looks to be in no way ending anytime soon. Brazos Valley will take on the River Monsters on the road in Seguin tomorrow evening in hopes of bringing the win streak to five and keeping them in the lead in the TCL!
