Bombers fall short to Rougarou but Team Chemistry Continues to Grow

Bryan-College Station, TX (June 3, 2023) – The Bombers took a loss to Baton Rouge tonight but the leadership on the team shows that plenty of wins are in the near future. The offense did really good things today putting up plenty of hits but were unfortunately not able to convert those. It is easy to see the team chemistry growing early in this season with the impressive coordination on defense as they robbed several more runs, logging double plays tonight. The Bombers athletes kept positive attitudes all the way through the game helping them continue to play smart despite the deficit. Throughout the game Brazos Valley worked very well together showing their commitment to getting better to secure wins as the season progresses.

The Rougarou played very well together today causing the Bombers to fall short on victory tonight but the offense showed great progression and still had an easy time making contact with the ball. Casey Sunseri continued to show his athleticism and versatility playing right field in this game after starting on third base against the Generals yesterday. In the first inning today the Baylor Bear had no issue in the outfield tracking down balls and securing crucial outs for the team. Keeping the fans spirits high, Christian Smith Johnson caught several deep balls that easily could’ve got his opponents on base showing his speed running to those hits. Later in the inning Garrison Weiss hit a ball through the gap in left field proving why he was the leadoff in this game.

Casey Sunseri continued to dominate this field smacking a ball deep into center field for a triple sending Garrison home for the Bombers first run of the evening. In the third Casey launched a ball to right field for a single showing off his impressive swing all night. The right fielder also logged a smoked base hit and stole third late in the eighth. Cole Plowman was off the mound this evening but was still beneficial to this team as the DH earned an RBI to send Casey home and later smashed a ball deep into the outfield but unfortunately it was caught. Defense was also advancing the innings, logging double plays and catching balls deep in the outfield. Specifically the momentum was led by Christian Smith Johnson tracking down deep balls in center robbing what could've been doubles or triples. He continued to play well defensively all night with no dropped balls and playing smart the whole game. Despite the loss, the team played with a lot of commitment showing effort to the very end. The Bombers will return to Edible Field on Monday June 5th as they take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
