Bombers Fall to Twins 6-3

Texarkana, USA – May 26, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins defeated the Brazos Valley Bombers 6-3 at George Dobson Field. Texarkana took the lead in the second inning after the Bombers scored one in their half of the inning and never gave it up.

Today, for the Bombers, the biggest positive came from the pitching staff’s ability to miss bats. The Bombers pitchers recorded 14 strikeouts, including two innings where the Bombers pitchers struck out the side. The club struggled to string together hits against the Twins pitchers and struggled to score because of it. The top three hitters for the Bombers went a combined 1-13, with the only hit being a two run double for Cole Coker.

The tone was set by starting pitcher Foster Pace, who sat down the first three Bombers in order to start the game. The team then burst out in the second inning, after giving up a run to the Bombers, to take the lead on a two run hit by Gehrig Octavio. For the game, Foster Pace went six innings, only allowing one run and picking up five strikeouts. Twins first baseman Matthew McDonald continued his strong opening series, collecting two hits and a steal along with a run scored. Catcher Jake Gray also helped with a big single and limited the Bombers on the base paths, throwing out two.

The Bombers now return home for a series against the Twins starting Tuesday at 7:05 at Travis Field in Bryan.
