Victoria, Texas (June 8, 2017)-The Brazos Valley Bombers extended their winning-streak to 9 straight with an 9-2 victory over the Victoria Generals Thursday night in Victoria.
The scoring started early with a Michael Helman solo-HR in the top of the first, his TCL high second on the season to make it 1-0.
After that, the two rivals went back and forth, trading a couple runs, until the score stuck at 2-2 until the top of the 7th inning. The Bombers got a couple men on then took full advantage and drove in 4 runs in the 7th, followed by 2 in the 8th, and 1 in the 9th to all but secure their 9-2 victory.
Thursday's starter Michael Mokma went 7 strong innings giving up only 2 runs, 1 BB, 5 H, and 5 Ks. Mokma was followed by Gavin Alvarez and Clayton Hill out of the bullpen who gave 2 scoreless innings.
With the win, the Bombers keep their full game lead in the TCL standings over Acadiana, a now three game lead over Victoria, and have won a league best 9-straight.
The Bombers hit the road and will head home for a FedStar Friday Fireworks night to play the Generals for the third time this season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and you can catch the pre-game show starting at 6:45pm all on Willy 1550, and radioaggieland.com.
