Bombers Take Advantage for Win
Bryan-College Station, TX (August 5, 2016) – The Brazos Valley Bombers traveled to Victoria, TX to take on the Generals in pursuit of their third straight win. The team defeated the Generals by a final of 7-3 behind the power of a six run third inning.
After an uneventful first two innings for the Bomber offense, the team took advantage of errors committed by the Generals and exploded in the third for six runs, only one of which was earned. Anthony Herrera went 3 for 5 at the plate tonight including an RBI double, his 18th on the season which set the TCL record for doubles in a season.
Riley McCauley, the team co-leader in saves, started on the mound tonight for the Bombers and only gave up one run on one hit in four innings of work. McCauley also struck out six in his abbreviated start. McCauley was replaced by Brady Tedesco on the mound who pitched three innings without giving up a run.
The Generals scored two runs in the ninth off of relief pitcher Jake Cowan to push the score to its’ final of 7-3.
The team wraps up its’ series with the Generals tomorrow night in Victoria before returning to Nutrabolt Stadium on Sunday to take on the Texas Marshals. First pitch tomorrow in Victoria is at 7:05 p.m.
