Thirteen Bombers Featured In Perfect Game's Top 20 TCL Prospects

Bombers feature eight of the Top 10 TCL Prospects and 12 of Top 15, including the top two prospects overall

Bryan-College Station, TX (September 4, 2015) – On September 2, Perfect Game released their Top 20 TCL Prospects list and like the Baseball America rankings, the Brazos Valley Bombers were once again well represented.

The Bombers featured five of the Top 10 TCL Prospects for Baseball America and 13 of the Top 20 for Perfect Game, including the top two prospects overall.

This is the third year in a row that the Bombers have featured the top prospect in Perfect Game’s rankings.

Once again, Tyler Stubblefield and Garrett Benge are featured as the No.1 and No. 2 prospects. However, the two have swapped rankings from where they stood in Baseball America's top prospects list, with Stubblefield sitting at No. 1 and Benge at No. 2 for Perfect Game. Stubblefield was previously drafted out of high school in 2013 in the 36th Round by the Atlanta Braves before signing with Texas A&M.

Benge attended Cowley County College for one year and was named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Year before being drafted in the 22nd Round by the Cleveland Indians in 2015. Benge did not sign and currently attends Oklahoma State University where he will compete as a member of the Cowboy baseball team this spring.

The other three Bombers to be featured with Stubblefield and Benge in Baseball America’s rankings also appeared on the Perfect Game list. Right-handed pitchers Ethan Landon and Dakota Mekkes, and first baseman Geonte Jackson were ranked No. 4, No. 5 and No. 9 respectively by Perfect Game.

Other Bombers finding themselves in the top 10 are Bombers outfielder/left-handed pitcher Blake Kopetsky, catcher Tyler Lawrence, and catcher Henri Lartigue.

Kopetsky is a three-time TCL Champion with the Bombers and a two-time TCL All-Star. Kopetsky attends Texas A&M and is ranked No. 7 in Perfect Game’s Top 20 TCL Prospects.

Lawrence was also a TCL All-Star this season and was named MVP of the game, as well as being crowned the 2015 TCL Home Run Derby Champion. He is the No. 8 prospect in the TCL, according to Perfect Game.

Lartigue added another TCL All-Star to the list for the Bombers this season. He attends Ole Miss and is the No. 10 prospect on Perfect Game’s rankings.

Four more Bombers also cracked the top fifteen, including infielders Jacob Chappell and Trent Goodrich, outfielder Matt Hilston, and right-handed pitcher Remey Reed.

Chappell currently attends Oklahoma State University and was ranked the No. 11 TCL Prospect in 2015.

Goodrich, the No. 12 prospect, has transferred to Sacramento State for his senior season and finished second in the TCL in RBI to the No. 13 prospect, UTSA Roadrunner Matt Hilston. Hilston was a returning Bomber this season and a TCL All-Star.

Remey Reed, a collegiate teammate of fellow Bombers Jacob Chappell and Garrett Benge was ranked as the No. 15 prospect in the TCL this season.

The final Bomber on the list, appearing at No. 20 is right-handed pitcher C.J. Gregory. Gregory will be entering his senior season at Oklahoma Wesleyan this spring after being named a TCL All-Star and tying the TCL single-season wins record of 8 wins, previously set by former Bombers player Brian Borski.
