Bombers Blow Out Cane Cutters In Game 1 Of TCL Championship Series
Bombers Lead Series 1-0 Heading Home
Lafayette, LA (August 9, 2015) - After defeating the East Texas Pump Jacks 9-0 on Friday night to earn a spot in the TCL Championship Series, the Brazos Valley Bombers traveled to Louisiana to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in Game 1 of the TCL Championship Series.
Matt Hilston homered in the top of the 1st inning to give the Bombers a 3-0 lead and they did not look back from there. Ben Hollas went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, 3 runs scored and 4 RBI in the explosive offensive performance for the Bombers.
Heston Van Fleet pitched 7 innings, only allowing 5 hits and no runs while striking out 5 Cane Cutters. Texas A&M Aggie Brigham Hill and Nick Jones combined for two shutout innings on the mound for the Bombers. The Bombers defeated the Cane Cutters by a score of 14-0.
The Bombers lead the best-of-three series 1-0 with an opportunity to clinch their third-consecutive TCL Championship on Monday night in Game 2 at Cellucor Field. If a third game is necessary, that game would also take place at Cellucor Field. First pitch for all three games is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
