Bryan-College Station, TX (July 5, 2014) – The Brazos Valley Bombers (23-8) lost to the Texas Marshals (10-20) 8-7 Saturday night.
“We had the game right there in front of us,” said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. “We had a little bit of bad luck, but they beat us in the last four innings of the game and won.”
The Bombers got out to an early lead—scoring the first six runs of the game—and catcher Tucker Pennell registered the third Bombers homerun of the season with a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning.
The Marshals would respond with seven runs over the fifth and sixth innings, taking a 7-6 lead, and added another in the seventh to push their cushion to two runs.
The Bombers would come back and score a run in the eighth, but would be unable to muster any more runs and drop their second game in as many nights despite a 12 hit offensive performance.
The Bombers will rematch the Marshals Sunday night at 7 p.m. at Gary A. Pasqua Field at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas before breaking for the All-Star break.
