After falling in the series to The Woodlands earlier this week, the Bombers got back on track tonight in Victoria by taking down the Generals 4-1 in the two teams first match of the season.
The Generals earned their only run of the night in the bottom of the first off of a walk and two singles. For the remainder of the night the Bombers were able to hold Victoria with strong arms on the mound and eleven total strikeouts.
Brazos Valley got on the board for the first time in the top of the fourth when left fielder Brett Kauten earned a double and was later brought in by designated hitter Hunter Melton. The very next inning second baseman Patrick McLendon slammed his second homerun of the season, a two-run bomb that brought the score to 3-1. The final run of the night was earned in the top of the sixth when first baseman G.R. Hinsley reached first on a single and was later brought in by Graham McIntyre.
Zac Curtis was on the mound for the Bombers for seven strong innings with only three hits and an impressive ten strikeouts. Nick Johnson and Shay Maltese also made pitching appearances for Brazos Valley.
