History Will Have To Wait

History is just going to have to wait, courtesy of Mother Nature.

The Brazos Valley Bombers’ first-ever game, scheduled for tonight in Coppell against the host Copperheads, has been postponed due to weather-related field conditions.

The Bombers will now open their inaugural Texas Collegiate League season on Wednesday with a visit to the Colleyville LoneStars. The Copperheads game will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the Bombers return to Coppell on July 2.

The Bombers historic home opener is scheduled for this Friday, June 8, when Brazos Valley plays host to the Duncanville Deputies. Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, the venerable Bryan facility known as Travis Field prior to a massive renovation project this spring, will be the site of the opener and all Bombers home games. Upgrades such as the new concessions stand, premium Founder’s Club and general admission seating, 1,600-square-foot party deck, and College Station Medical Center Courtyard will all be open and available for fans. Game time on Friday is 7:05 pm, with the gates opening at 6 pm.

Following the game on Friday, fans will be treated to a spectacular fireworks display courtesy of Caldwell Country Chevrolet, KORA-FM 98.3, KBTX-TV Channel 3, and The Eagle. In fact, every Friday Bombers home game will be followed by a fireworks display as part of the team’s Fireworks Fridays promotion.

The Bombers opening weekend will continue on Saturday when the defending TCL champion McKinney Marshalls visit the Brazos Valley for a 7:05 pm contest. The first 500 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive Bombers CheerStix, sponsored by Aggie 96. The homestand will conclude on Sunday with a 3:05 pm game against the LoneStars. Sunday is a Bomb Squad Kids Day, with the first 250 children receiving a free koozie.

Tickets for the Bombers opening weekend, as well as tickets, picnics, birthday parties, and other group opportunities to the rest of the Bombers inaugural season, are on sale now. Fans may purchase tickets at the Bombers office located at 405 Mitchell Street in Bryan or by calling the ticket office at (979) 779-PLAY. Tickets can also be purchased online – and printed at home on any standard printer – by visiting the Bombers official web site at www.bvbombers.com.

The Bombers are members of the nine-team Texas Collegiate League, one of the nation’s premier summer collegiate circuits. Teams like the Bombers bring minor league baseball-style entertainment to communities throughout the country, giving some of the best college players a chance to further their careers in wood bat leagues in front of Major League scouts. The Bombers 48-game inaugural season begins this week and runs through early August, followed by league playoffs and a championship series. Tickets are on sale now by calling or visiting the Bombers ticket office or by logging on to the Bombers’ official web site at www.bvbombers.com.
