Bombers Return Home After Splitting Double Header Against Cane Cutters

The Bombers played a double header today against the Cane Cutters in Acadiana. The Cane Cutters took the first game 5-3 after scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The second game had a lot more action in it as the Bombers scored eight runs in the fourth inning. The game was called by the umpires with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning due to two ejections on the Cane Cutter coaching staff.

During the first game, The Bombers offense got off to a slow start, but things came to life in the third inning. Designated hitter Bobby Butvin led the inning off with a single to left center. Shortstop Nick Smelser then came to the plate and dropped a bunt down the third base line that put two runners on for the Bombers. Left fielder Quinton Urban came to the plate to lined a single to left field that scored Butvin. Center fielder Chris Florack came up and put down a sac bunt that moved both Smelser and Urban up. Right fielder Myles Parma then stepped to the plate and lined a shot to right field that scored both Smelser and Urban. That made the score 3-1. That would be all the runs the Bombers would get for the game.

Andrew Godail started on the mound tonight for the Bombers. Godail pitched the first 4.1 innings of the game. Godail gave way to Montgomery native Logan Burch who recorded a strikeout in the final two thirds of the inning. In the following inning first baseman James Wharton made a nice grab snatching a ball about the hit the dirt for an out, and then stepped on first to double off the runner for a double play.

Toups then came up and lined a single to right field. First baseman Brad Porras came to the plate and reach on an error by the second baseman. Urban came to the plate and lined a single to left center that scored Smith. Pinch hitter, Braden Mattson then came to the plate and hit a single that scored Toups.
