Bombers Win in a Dramatic Comeback and Continue Winning
Bombers Win Second in a Row in a Dramatic Comeback.
On a Thirsty Thursday sponsored by Western Beverages fans of many ages enjoyed a great ballgame at American Momentum Bank Ballpark seeing the Bombers win their second straight game 9-6 over the McKinney Marshals. The Bombers were back home after a three game road trip, ending with a canellation last night in McKinney. The Bombers returned ready to continue their undefeated home record against the Marshals and maintain their first place standing in the TCL.
The Bombers were behind 6-3 heading into the home side of the seventh inning. And just like textbook Bombers baseball, the team was able to put together a great inning that proved to break the game open. Second baseman Adam Pena led off the inning by drawing a walk. Left fielder Brandon Wood then came to the plate and drew a walk as well. Bomber first baseman, Brad Porras, singled in the first run of the inning that scored Pena. After a sacrifice fielders choice by catcher, Braden Mattson, Wood was able to come in to score. With the bases loaded, rightfielder Quinton Urban was nailed by a pitch, that scored Mattson from third. Another Bombers run would come accross the plate and the Bombers would lead 7-6. H&R Block Never Settle for Less Player of the Game, center fielder Jordan Hammerman then hit a 2 run single to give the Bombers a 9-6 lead, that would end up winning it for the Bombers. The Bombers defense got off to a late start, but finished strong holding McKinney to no runs in the final 5 innings of play.
The Bombers pitching staff was once again noted for its solid bullpen work. After starter, Tyler Eppler pitched 4.2 innings, Derek Mazzio, Andrew Hohn and Nathan Sorenson combined for 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. Mazzio recorded three strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work. Hohn pitched a solid inning as well striking out two Marshall batters. Nathan Sorenson came in to close it out and recorded one strikeout in an inning of work.
The game featured some tense moments, that resulted in three ejections during the game. A Bombers' Assistant Coach, as well as Marshals' Head Coach and Catcher were all ejected from tonights game. The Bombers held on strong though, to capture another win in front of a cheering crowd at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
