The Bombers dropped a hotly contested game to the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Saturday night, falling 3-2. Despite the loss, the Bombers stay in second place in the TCL standings, but they now share that spot with the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The Bombers still control their own destiny as they push to secure a playoff spot in the first half of the season, with two victories versus the Cane Cutters in the next two games.

The Bombers hurt themselves tonight, as the Cane Cutters reached base more by freebies (walks and errors) than they did with hits. Despite the fact that they had just 4 hits on the evening, they managed to score 3 runs. The Bombers were unable to capitalize on their opportunities at the plate tonight, as they left 9 men on base in the contest.

The team got strong performances at the plate by Casey Dykes and Matt Milligan. Milligan hit a sharp single down the left field line that drove in the first run for the Bombers, and Dykes went 2-4 with a triple and a run scored. John Cannon showed why he's so highly regarded for his defense, as he threw out two Cane Cutters attempting to steal, and continually displayed off his arm and his hustle behind the plate.

The Bombers will have Sunday off before heading to Acadiana to wrap up the first half of the season. If they win those two games, they'll secure a spot in the TCL playoffs. The team will come home on Wednesday to begin a four-game home stand, which will feature the third Angry Birds Giveaway of the season, as well as $1 margaritas.
