The Bombers bats had no answer for the Copperheads Skye Severns, as they lost their first game in 9 days by a score of 3-2. The loss drops the Bombers a game behind the expansion Acadiana Cane Cutters and the East Texas Pump Jacks for first place in the TCL. Although the team lost the game, theyve still won 11 of their last 13 games and remain the hottest team in the league.
The team continued their recent trend of strong pitching, as pitchers Josh Dean and Geoff Lomax combined to allow just 5 hits and 3 runs in 8 innings, but the lineup could only muster 2 runs against Severns, the Copperheads starting pitcher. Severns threw 7 innings and allowed just one earned run on a home run by Brennyn Smith, who has now hit two home runs in the last two games.
Though the Bombers are off on Sunday, theyll get a shot at redemption against the Copperheads on Monday night at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, where fans are thrilled about the UPA Kids Zone being 100% FREE to all kids in attendance. Next Tuesday's game is Guaranteed Win Night at the ballpark, brought to you by Jones & Lowe Agency, where if the Bombers fail to deliver a win, every fan in the park will be able to get into another game FREE of charge.
