Bryan-College Station, TX (July 10, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers lost another close game to the Victoria Generals 5-9 despite scoring four in the seventh to pull within two runs. The Generals let the Bombers back in the game, but put them away with two in the eighth.
The Generals scored on in the first, but the Bombers responded with one of their own on a Morgan Mickan RBI groundout in the third to tie the game at 1-1. The Generals wasted no time opening back up a lead with four in the bottom of the third and two more in the forth, making the score 1-7.
The Bombers fought back adding two in the seventh on a two RBI single by Cameron Dullnig, one on an RBI single by John Cannon, and one more on a sacrifice fly by Mickan, bringing the score to 5-7. The Bombers looked to need just two heading into the ninth, but after back to back strikeouts the Generals pushed two across to make the score 5-9. The Bombers put two on in the top of the ninth, but were unable to score.
The Bombers will face off against the Generals again tomorrow night and be back in action at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark on Saturday.
