Bryan-College Station (March 27, 2007) - The Brazos Valley Bombers announced today that the team and Brazos Valley Bank have consummated a naming rights agreement to rename Travis Field to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark. The rechristening of the Bombers home field is the heart of an aggressive renovation project expected to be completed in time for the team’s historic home opener on Friday, June 8. The announcement was made at a press conference at Brazos Valley Bank’s College Station location on Highway 6.

“This partnership with Brazos Valley Bank is a giant leap forward for the Bombers organization,” said Bombers co-owner Uri Geva. “It was important to find a partner for this project that not only has the vision to see the Bombers’ value to the Brazos Valley, but one that also holds a prominent place in the local community. We found that in Brazos Valley Bank.”

The naming rights agreement is for three years, with options that may extend the initial deal to five years. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The rechristening of Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark is one of many expected improvements to the historic facility. The Bombers announced plans to renovate much of the park, which was once home of the original Bryan Bombers minor league team in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.

“All of the changes to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark are being implemented with the fans in mind,” commented general manager Mike Lieberman. “Everything that we are doing is designed to improve the fan experience and make a night of Bombers baseball the premiere summer entertainment experience in the Brazos Valley.”

Among the changes to the park are the addition of two new seating choices, Founder’s Club seats and general admission. A limited number of traditional chairback stadium seats are being installed in front of the current reserved section in the main grandstand to make up the Founder’s Club seating. This exclusive option features in-your-seat wait service, so fans never have to stand in concessions lines. Founder’s Club seats will only be sold as season tickets.

A substantial number of general admission seats will be added down both the left and right field lines, ensuring that all fans can enjoy the affordability of Bombers baseball. The new seating will help push the capacity of Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark to nearly 2,000 seats. The existing grandstand and roof will also receive a much-needed coat of paint, and the chain-link backstop will be replaced with a much easier on the eyes modern netting system.

The Bombers are also addressing fans needs by adding brand new concessions stands and rest rooms for the ballpark. These facilities will flank the College Station Medical Center courtyard; this paved area will welcome fans as they enter the park and serve as the heart of ballpark activity away from the field. The former concessions facility underneath the main grandstand will be converted into a merchandise stand.

The Bombers are also expanding the footprint of the ballpark and installing some new perimeter fencing to accommodate several new fan-friendly offerings. For children and their families, the team is creating a Kidz Zone behind the grandstand on the first base side of the park. The Kidz Zone is designed to be a haven for the team’s youngest fans, featuring a moon bounce, inflatable T-ball game, and inflatable speed pitch. The Bombers mascot KaBoom, as well as face painters, clowns, and other entertainers, are expected to be frequent visitors to the Kidz Zone.

Beyond the Kidz Zone, the Bombers are installing a raised party deck that overlooks the field. This all-wood structure will be one of two new sites for catered pre-game parties, joined by the picnic area behind it. In both locations, groups may pre-book the space for the Bombers to provide an all-you-can-eat pre-game picnic with your choice of ballpark fare. All picnics include reserved seats for the entire group. After the game starts, the party deck becomes a casual seating location from which anyone can enjoy the game – fans do not need special tickets to sit on the party deck once the game starts.

The Bombers are members of the nine-team Texas Collegiate League, one of the nation’s premier summer collegiate circuits. Teams like the Bombers bring minor league baseball-style entertainment to communities throughout the country, giving some of the best college players a chance to further their careers in wood bat leagues in front of Major League scouts. The Bombers begin their 48-game inaugural season on June 5 against the Coppell Copperheads. The team’s historic home opener will take place on June 8 when the Bombers welcome the Duncanville Deputies to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark.
