Joaquin Hinojosa strengthened his case for Texas Collegiate League Player of the Year, as he earned Co-Player of the Week Honors this past week, along with Matt Juengel of the East Texas Pump Jacks. Both players will be headed to Texas A&M next fall.
Hinojosa demonstrated his prowess both at the plate and on the mound this past week. He batted .333 with two home runs, which vaulted him into a tie for the league-lead in homers. He also compiled an .833 slugging percentage and knocked in five runs.
The two-way star also picked up a pair of saves as the Bombers’ closer to grab a share of the TCL lead in that category as well. The sophomore star from Texarkana College has yet to give an earned run this season and has established himself as one of the more feared closers in the league this summer.
