The Brazos Valley Bombers fell 7-3 to the Coppell Copperheads in the series opener, as Coppell moved to within half a game of the Bombers in the Texas Collegiate League Standings. The Copperheads had 17 hits in the win and struck out the Bombers 12 times.
The Copperheads scored two in the first inning and never looked back as they put runs on the board in the first four innings.
Trailing 7-1, the Bombers were able to tack on a run in the sixth and eighth innings, but Coppell held the lead and earned their 20th win of the season.
Brett Parsons got his hitting back on track with a pinch hit home run in the sixth inning and then added a sacrifice fly two innings later. His successful two at-bats gives Bombers fans hope that he will return to the early season form that made him of the most feared hitters in the league.
The Bombers will try to even the series tomorrow against Coppell on $0.50 beer night in the new Field View Section.
