The Brazos Valley Bombers came up on the short end of the stick tonight, as they fell 7-3 to the East Texas Pump Jacks in front of 1249 fans. It was also Charity Night at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, as several non-profit organizations enjoyed the action thanks to the generous support of many sponsors from around the Bryan-College Station area.
The Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Cliff Vaughn’s RBI single, but the strong hitting of the Pump Jacks began to show and they took a 6-1 lead in the seventh inning.
Wes Schill and Casey Dykes scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the lead in half, but East Texas relief pitchers Abel Gonzalez and Ian Schwalenberg put the clamp on and held the lead.
East Texas tacked on another in the top of the ninth to make it 7-3 and secure the win to give the Jacks the two- game sweep. With the loss the Bombers dropped to 17-19 on the season and will travel to Coppell tomorrow to face off against the Copperheads.
