Set to the tune of a James Bond-themed Gold Finger Night, Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark went gold tonight as the Bombers took on the East Texas Pump Jacks. 300 lucky fans came home with Golden Foam Fingers as the Pump Jacks came away with a 12-4 victory in the first game of the two game set.
The Pump Jacks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top half of the first inning, but Cliff Vaughn answered right back with a three run home run to left field to tie the game back up an inning later. The score stayed knotted up until the fourth inning, when the Pump Jacks took back the lead.
East Texas continued to pour it on, as everyone in their lineup scored except Matt Juengel. The Bombers were able to score once in the bottom of the ninth, but the Pump Jacks had already put the game out of reach and came away with a 12-4 victory.
The Bombers will try to even the series against the Pump Jacks tomorrow with staff ace Jake Liedka on the mound. It will be $1 Slovacek Sunday at the ballpark and one lucky fan will win a Nintendo Wii in the Air Guitar Contest. It is also Charity Night, as 10 different charities from around the Bryan-College Station area will be in attendance, thanks to the generous donations of many sponsors around town.
