Box Score
The Brazos Valley Bombers lost their second straight as they were swept by the last-place Marshals tonight in McKinney. The Bombers rallied from behind to take the lead 4-3, only to see the Marshals strike right back to steal the victory.
Brazos Valley fell behind early 3-0 despite another strong effort from Drew Flaniken, who was looking for his fifth win of the season. The Bombers finally put two runs on the board in the fifth inning on a pair of RBI groundouts by Wes Schill and Casey Dykes to cut the lead to 3-2.
Two innings later, the Bombers forged ahead to a 4-3 lead and seemed to be in a position to secure the win with the normally-reliable Brian Watson taking the hill. The Marshals were able to tie it up in the bottom of the seventh on Casey Selsor’s RBI single. The following inning, the Marshals took the lead for good on J.B. Brown’s sacrifice fly, which scored John Tatum.
The Bombers will have three days off before taking on the Marshals in a rematch on Thirsty Thursday at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark.
