Box Score
The Brazos Valley Bombers were on the verge of another come-from-behind victory tonight, but came up short in a 4-2 loss to the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Bombers scored two in the ninth inning, but the Pump Jacks closer Stephen Tromblee was able to stem the tide to collect the save.
The Bombers struggled all night long to find offense against Pump Jacks starter Matt Click, and trailed 4-0 heading to the ninth inning. Travis Smith and Brian Watson pitched well for the Bombers, but for the second straight night the Bombers were not able to provide any run support for their pitchers.
In the ninth inning, the Bombers finally got into business. Kyle Atkins and Clifton Thomas singled to start off the inning, and Casey Dykes reached on an error to load the bases. With the tying run at the plate, East Texas inserted Tromblee into the game.
He promptly struck out Brett Parsons to record the first out before walking Nick Anders to score Atkins. Thomas then scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 4-2, but Tromblee struck out Andre Rodriguez and Drew Mason to end the game.
The Bombers will try to right the ship tomorrow as they travel to Victoria for the first of a two game set against the Generals. Game time is set for 7:05 pm.
