A lucky Cashback Tuesday Winner went home Tuesday $100 richer
Box Score
The Brazos Valley Bombers waited until the eighth inning to provide the fireworks on Cashback Tuesday, as they scored four runs to rally for the 5-3 victory over the expansion Victoria Generals.
The Bombers got good pitching performances from Travis Smith and Garrett Fanchier, but struggled to get runs across the plate and trailed 3-1 heading into the eighth inning. The Bombers came up in a big way in the inning, as they loaded the bases with only one out for Danny Hernandez.
To try to stem the tide, the Generals put in Garrett Steward to pitch, but Hernandez drove the first pitch he saw off the left field wall, scoring Joe Craven and Joaquin Hinojosa to tie the game.
Casey Dykes broke the tie two batters later as he delivered with a another double, this one to the right field gap, scoring Brett Parsons and Hernandez to put the Bombers in the lead. Hinojosa, who hit 1-for-3 from the plate, came in for the ninth inning to try to collect the save. He was nothing short of brilliant, as he struck out the first two hitters before getting Tyler King to line out to center field to end the game.
The Bombers improved to 5-4 on the season with the win and will look to make it two in a row against the 7-2 Generals tomorrow on Margaritaville Wednesday. Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy $2 Margaritas and Landshark Beer all night.
