The Brazos Valley Bombers came up big in the first Fireworks Friday night of the season- both on the field and in the stands. Playing in front of Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark’s first-ever sold out crowd, the Bombers defeated the Coppell Copperheads 6-2 to complete the series sweep.
The Bombers came up with more strong pitching and defense tonight in the win, as they improved to 3-3 on the season. Drew Flaniken struck out six and gave up just two runs in six innings to collect his first win of the season. The Bombers also committed no errors for the third straight game, all wins, as the Bombers got the early lead and never looked back.
Joaquin Hinojosa displayed more of his versatility tonight, as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run and two runs. Wes Schill, Danny Hernandez, and Robby Graham also had multiple hits for the Bombers, who totaled 13 for the game.
Brazos Valley Ballpark was bustling with excitement tonight, with seven Model-T cars from the Texas Touring T’s Club, the postgame fireworks and between-innings contests. In the first inning, the crowd went wild when Coppell’s Michael Pair, the night’s K-Man, struck out. Because of the strikeout, everyone in the ballpark won a free cookie thanks to Bombers proud sponsor, Firehouse Subs.
The Bombers will travel to East Texas tomorrow to face off with the Pumpjacks, as they try to win their fourth straight.
