Box Score
With 1200 fans on hand for $1 Beer Thirsty Thursday, the Brazos Valley Bombers won their second straight game, defeating the Coppell Copperheads by a score of 6-2.
Mitchell Pitts came out strong for the Bombers tonight, as he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. He finished the game with three strikeouts in six innings, surrendering just four hits and two runs to collect the win. He kept the Copperheads off balance all night, with 11 of his 18 outs coming by way of the groundball.
John Hale came up big for the Bombers with three hits in four plate appearances, including an RBI double in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-0. The Bombers never looked back, as they got fantastic relief appearances from Aaron Daab and Geoff Lomax to complete the win.
Making his first appearance since last fall after recovering from Tommy John surgery, Daab looked sharp and struck out four of the five batters he faced. Lomax finished things up for the Bombers with two strikeouts while only giving up one hit in nearly two innings.
The Bombers improved to 2-3 on the season and will look for their third consecutive win tomorrow against Coppell on Fireworks Friday. The Texas Touring Ts Club will be making a special appearance tomorrow as well, providing fans with a opportunity to see several original Model-T cars, which will be at the ballpark for the game.
