Although they fell short of the Texas Collegiate League Championship, the Brazos Valley Bombers gave the community reason to be excited for years to come. With new records set, improvements on the field and off it, the 2008 summer was a season to remember.
Despite their early exit, the 2008 season was full of fun and memories. Battling injuries all season, the Bombers finished with a record of 20-26. Their struggles did not faze them, as they fought first-place McKinney down to the wire in the playoffs before losing in a nail biter. Todd Cunningham, Nick Anders and Dustin Rasco were all selected to the All-League Team for their achievements during the season as they led the Bombers. Cunningham and Anders were clutch players at the top of lineup, generating runs and playing great defense as well. Rasco was named TCL Relief Pitcher of the Year after tying the TCL Record with nine saves.
With the addition of a new ticket office, bathrooms, improved concessions and Kids Zone, Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark was hopping with excitement each and every night. The Bombers set the all-time attendance record on July 25 with 1,684 fans and then set the playoff attendance record two weeks later on August 6 with 1,279 fans.
The Brazos Valley Bombers would like to thank all of their sponsors, fans and everyone who made the season possible. Although the Bombers have completed just two seasons, the future is bright and next season figures to be an even greater success.
