Box Score
The East Texas Pumpjacks evened up the series with the Brazos Valley Bombers, winning 3-1 tonight in Kilgore. Bryon Dixon pitched six innings of two-hit ball, shutting out the Bombers en route to his third victory. Sam Strickland pitched brilliantly, as he has all season, but suffered his fourth loss of the summer. The loss drops the Bombers to 17-20 on the season. They will return home to Brazos Valley tomorrow to host the Pumpjacks on Thirsty Thursday, which features $1 Beers and $0.50 Soft Drinks.
Strickland kept the game close throughout, as he only surrendered one run in six innings, but the Bombers were unable to muster any run support for him against Dixon. Making his third start of the season, Drew Thomas provided the lone highlight for the Bombers, hitting a solo home run in the eighth inning. Cliff Vaughn also had two hits for the Bombers, who will look to pass the Pumpjacks in the standings with a win tomorrow night. The Pumpjacks pitching staff compiled 10 strikeouts on the night, while only walking one Bombers’ hitter.
