The Bombers jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back as they beat McKinney 10-6. The Marshals struggled tremendously in the field, making seven errors and allowing the Bombers to cash in on 11 hits. The win puts the Bombers at 7-5 on the season and a game ahead of the Marshals.
The Marshals committed five errors in the first two innings as the Bombers jumped ahead to a quick lead. McKinney was able to evade further damage in the first inning, though as they got out of a bases-loaded jam. The Bombers stayed in control until they received a scare in the 8th inning. Justin Bloxom and Mike Walker hit a pair of two-run home runs off Jonathon Conrad to cut the lead to 8-5, but Trey Sperring came in to stem the tide and get out of the inning.
The Bombers got some insurance in the 9th inning from last night’s hero, Dustin Dickerson, as he hit a two-run single to give the Bombers the 10-5 lead. The Marshals were able to manage a run in the bottom of the 9th, but Trey Sperring was able to get through the inning without any other hindrances to pick up his second save of the summer.
The Bombers will be headed to Kilgore, Texas to face the East Texas Pumpjacks before coming back home to finish the four game series with Pumpjacks at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark. Cody Springer will get the start for the Bombers as they go for their fourth-straight win.
