A night after making a valiant comeback but falling short in the end, the Bombers came from behind to win their second game of the season. The Bombers fell behind early and trailed after three innings 4-2, but slowly crawled back into the game to force a tie heading into the seventh inning. Daniel Meadows, who agreed to terms with the Milwaukee Brewers during the game, pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning and struck out two baffled Copperheads with a vast array of pitches.

After the seventh inning stretch, the Bombers exploded in full force, scoring three runs to give the team a 7-4 lead. Following Zach Grichor’s RBI single, the Copperheads’ Tyler McClary began to lose his control and his composure. He walked a batter, threw a wild pitch, and his battery mate, Zach Rutland let a ball go through his legs that let the Bombers take a 7-4 lead. Trey Sperring pitched the final two innings, allowing just a hit and an unearned run to pick up his first save of the season. Sperring has opened TCL play on a tear, hitting two home runs yesterday in addition to tonight’s heroics.

The Bombers will host Coppell again tomorrow night in the series finale at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark. The Bombers will be looking to take three out of four games from the reigning TCL Champion Copperheads as the 2008 season gets under way.  Long Beach State Sophomore Brandon Godfrey will get the nod tomorrow for the Bombers, who will go for their first winning streak of the summer.
