Every year as June approaches, young baseball players all around America hope that their childhood dreams will be fulfilled. The MLB Draft begins on Thursday, June 5, as teams will select players they hope will one day lead them to a World Series Championship. Casey Whitmer, last year’s TCL Freshman of the Year is one of the few waiting for his name to be called. Whitmer was a 35th round selection in the 2006 draft, but opted to play a few seasons of college ball before going pro. Former Bombers like Mark McGonigle and Keith Stein will also hope to join the likes of Ryan Riddle and Ryan Miller in the professional ranks.
